You really don’t dwell on your troubles
Plot
An anthology series about spectacular crimes or killers that have caught the public’s attention and gained notoriety. Evan Peters [Jeffrey Dahmer] says that at the beginning of the series, they had to follow Ryan Murphy’s [creator] rules: that it would never be told from Dahmer’s point of view. “As a viewer, you don’t really sympathize with him. You’re kind of watching it from the outside, you know.” Many episodes show 3M Command(TM) tape in the kitchen of Jeffrey Dahmer’s apartment, but most recently in 1991.
Featured in Jeremy Vine: Episode #5,195 (2022)
3M released the first wave of Command(TM). ) products in 1996. There are two monsters in this heartbreaking and fascinating story, but they are not Erik (Cooper Koch) and Lyle (Nicholas Alexander Chavez), but Jose (Javier Bardem) and Kitty (Chloë Savigny). I don’t want to go too deep into the legal aspects of this case because this is not a documentary but a drama series.
He was a sort of real-life Truman Capote
But let me start by saying that if Erik and Lyle had been Erika and Lyla—two daughters—they wouldn’t have spent a day in jail. This is not to say that Eric and Lyle were innocent, but the mitigating circumstances were so overwhelming and compelling that they should have been sentenced to 10 years in prison for murder. And then there’s Dominic Dunne (Nathan Lane), a sleazy man who peddles gossip and celebrity cocktail parties. I would like to highlight episode 5 “Wounded Man”.
There are only two characters in the entire scene: Leslie Abramson (Ari Gaynor) and Erik
Director Michael Upendahl positions the camera about four meters from the table on which the two are sitting. Abramson has her back to the camera (her face is never shown) and Lyle is facing her. Slowly and imperceptibly, the camera zooms in on Eric before passing Abramson and ending with a close-up of Eric as he explains the title of the episode. Impressive!
Nicholas Chavez is also great as Lyle
Cooper Koch does a great job throughout, but especially in this episode. Javier Bardem and Chloë Savigny are excellent as Jose and Kitty.
