New apps have also been added to the Office family with Sway and Office Lens. All designed to keep your work moving forward, everywhere. While you’ve seen us focus on optimizing Office for different platforms over the past year, make no mistake, Office on the Windows desktop is at the heart of our strategy. The Microsoft Word 2019 suite includes apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Office 2007, Office 2010, Office 365, or Office 2013 users can open created documents without any additional action.
What’s new in Microsoft Word 2019: Your documents, anywhere
Customers using earlier versions of Office may need to download and install a compatibility pack. In Office 2019 apps, it’s easier to use the power of feature-rich apps to create, open, edit, and save files to the cloud from your desktop, so you can access them from anywhere, on any device. Plus, new modern attachments in Outlook make it easier to connect files from OneDrive and automatically set permissions for recipients—all without leaving Outlook. All of this makes it easier to share and collaborate on your work with others. Collaboration: Real-time co-authoring is now available in Office Online apps, and we’re bringing that experience to Windows desktop apps, starting with Word.

When you and your team work in Word 2019 and/or Office Online, you’ll be able to see where other editors are working and what they’re writing—all in real time. Intelligent apps: Apps will learn as you work, leveraging subtle cues and signals to help you stay on task and get the most out of Office. Tell Me, a new search tool in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, gives you the commands you need just by typing what you want to do. Clutter, a new Exchange feature coming to Outlook, uses machine learning to analyze your email templates and declutter your inbox by moving lower-priority messages to a new Clutter folder. Faster, Easier Data Analysis – New analytics capabilities are built into Excel, making it faster and easier than ever to extract, map, analyze, and visualize your data.
